How to Play Share or Snag

Learn the rules and strategies for playing Share or Snag games

What is Share or Snag?
A game of trust, strategy, and social dynamics

Share or Snag is a social game based on the classic prisoner's dilemma. It tests players' ability to cooperate or compete for a prize. The game consists of three main phases:

1. Creation Phase

Anyone can create a game with any prize and set the rules for participation.

2. Voting Phase

The community votes for their favorite contestants. Top performers advance to the tournament stages.

3. Tournament Stages

Finalists compete in multiple rounds where they must choose to Share or Snag in each matchup, earning points until the ultimate winners face off in the final decision.

Tournament Structure

Multi-Stage Format

After initial voting, top contestants advance to finalist stages where they compete in a round-robin tournament. In each matchup, contestants choose to Share or Snag. Points are awarded based on choices: Share-Share (1 point each), Snag-Share (3 points to snagger), Snag-Snag (0 points). Lowest scoring contestants are eliminated until only 2 remain for the final Share or Snag decision.

Multi-Segment Groups

In larger games, contestants may be divided into segments (groups) that play their own mini-tournaments. Winners from each segment advance to the next stage, creating a more dynamic and engaging competition.

The Final Decision

Share

Choosing "Share" means you're willing to share the prize equally with your opponent. It's the cooperative choice.

Choosing "Snag" means you're trying to take the entire prize for yourself. It's the competitive choice.
